NATO has commenced its BALTOPS 2026 naval exercises in the Baltic Sea involving 20 warships and 6,000 personnel. The exercise aims to reinforce maritime security and collective defence amid ongoing tensions with Russia. 2. France is hosting the G7 Summit from 15–17 June 2026 in Évian. The high-level talks will focus heavily on the Ukraine conflict, Middle East security, and global economic stability. Notably, India has been formally invited to participate in these crucial global discussions. Defence 1. Admiral Krishna Swaminathan officially assumed charge as India’s 27th Chief of the Naval Staff on 31 May 2026, succeeding Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi. 2.
