NEWS FOR 31-OCT (TUESDAY)
1. A team of students from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research(IISER) has develped a graphene-based supercapacitors that has a better capacity, more power and offers a stable, non-toxic alternative to toxic Lead for batteies.

2. India's onion export has increased by 50% during the first four months of the current financial years  in between april to july 2017 because of due to the 5% subsidy. In NAFED report the country has exported 12.29 lakh tonnes of onion and earned 1,443 crores foreign currency. 

3. India sent the first consignment of wheat to Afghanistan through Chabahar port in Iran, making a landmark moment in realising an alternative transit route to landlocked Afghanistan by passing Pakistan.

4. Kidambi Srikanth defeated Japanese qualifier Kento Nishimoto in French open champion on 29-oct at Paris. He became the only Indian to win four consecutive Super series titles in a year.

5. Larsen and Toubro (L&T) handed over offshore patrol vessel (OPV) named “Vikram” to the Indian Coast Guard. It is country’s first-ever such defence vessel to be built in a private shipyard. It is first of seven vessels for which the Ministry of Defence had awarded Rs. 1,432-crore contract to L&T in March 2015.
