News - March 2nd week part- I
1. Weapon Locating Radar – ‘Swati’- DRDO has formally handed over the Indian Army an indigenously developed Weapon Location Radar system – ‘Swati’. It can accurately locate enemy weapons like mortars, shells and rockets within range of 50 kms &  also direct artillery response to them.

2. Nuclear Biological and Chemical recce vehicle –“Mk -I” and NBC treatment drugs. DRDO has also handed over NBC recce Vehicle Mk I which can collect Chemical, Biological and Nuclear contamination samples and demarcate the contaminated zone. 

3. Indus Commission meeting with Pakistan- India has agreed at the behest of World Bank to hold Permanent Indus Commission meeting with Pakistan. India had earlier suspended the talks with Pakistan on Indus Water Treaty after terrorist attack on Uri in September 2016. Permanent Indus Commission was set-up to implement and manage Indus Water Treaty. It is considered to be most successful treaty of the world.
4. China’s GDP Target for 2017- China has pegged it’s GDP target for the year 2017 at 6.5%. It is the lowest in past 25 years. The GDP for last year was 6.7%. This year China has set a target of creating 11 million urban jobs which is one million more than 2016. Chinese premier referring to the protectionist policies of USA , warned of far more complicated global economic picture.   

5. ISSF Shooting Competition- Indian ace pistol shooter, Jitu Rai , clinched gold medal in 50 meters men’s event during International Shooting Sports Federation world cup held at New Delhi on 1 March 2017. Jitu Rai took part in  in 50 meters and 10 meters pistol shooting events.
