NATIONAL NEWS
1. GOI held a ceremony to name the 21 largest unnamed islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands after 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees on 23rd Jan 23.
2. To acclaim 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Nepal, the governments of both countries have successfully undertaken 75 projects under Indo-Nepal Development Cooperation since April 2022 to till date.
3. Government of India recently tested BHARAT-OS an indigenously built operating system. Developed by IIT Madras in support of creating a digital India.
INTERNATION NEWS
1. Gilgit-Baltistan Region In Pakistan are demanding to be United with India: Pakistan has been witnessing economic turbulence and unrest. Amid the chaos, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan region have been protesting against the government of PM Shehbaz Sharif PoK.
2. The fourth round of talks on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union is expected around March this year in Europe.
3. Indian Coast Guard Ships ICGS Shaurya and ICGS Rajveer were on a six-day visit to Chattogram, Bangladesh from 13 to 19 January, 2023 to enhance the cooperative engagements and interoperability.
4.Finland based company KONESCRANES has decided to manufacture PORT CRANES in India, in collaboration with L&T company of India.
DEFENCE
1. The three Services including the Navy, IAF and Army recently conducted the biennial amphibious exercise ‘AMPHEX 2023'. The latest edition of the drill was the largest ever and took place off Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh for the first time from January 17 to 22.
SPORTS NEWS
1. Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna ended up as runners up in the Australian Open mixed doubles after losing the final. With this Sania Mirza announced the end of her Grand Slams journey in professional tennis.
2.The Indian hockey team lost to New Zealand in a penalty shootout in its crossover match of the FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 in Bhubaneswar, thus failing to qualify for the quarterfinals.
