National News
1. India has launched it's first green hydrogen based advanced fuel cell electric vehicleù (FCEV). The aim is to create an ecosystem for such vehicles in the country.
2.India has achieved its ambitious target of $400 billion worth of goods exports for the first time ever, nine days ahead of schedule. This is a key milestone in the Aatmanirbhar Bharat journey.
3.India has started vaccinating children aged between 12-14 years. Also all above 60 are now eligible for the precautionary dose.
4.BJP has won 4 out of the 5 states that went to the polls i.e. UP, Manipur, Uttarakhand & Goa. Meanwhile AAP scored a landslide victory in Punjab.
5.Kavach, the indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, will soon be deployed across the entire rail network in the country.This will reduce train accidents to a large extent.
International News
1.Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced an investment of around Rs 10,440 crore, to locally manufacture electric vehicles & BEV batteries in Gujarat.
2.Govt of Australia has announced an investment package worth $280 million with India. This is expected to help in furthering the bilateral economic relationship between the two countries.
3.As many as 63 out of the 100 most polluted cities in the world are Indian, as per the World air quality report 2021. India's capital Delhi has been named as the world's most polluted capital city in the world.
4. Indian Oil Corporation has bought 3 million barrels of Russia Urals oil & 2 million barrels of West African oil. Earlier this month, IOC bought similar volumes of Urals from Vitol.
5.Ukraine has accused Russia of deploying phosphorous weapons, which spreads a powder that ignites when in contact with oxygen & causes severe burns.
6.Japanese PM has anounced an investment of $42 billion in India over the next five years. Japan is one of India’s largest investors.
7.Bahrain has launched talks with India to procure Arjun Mk-II Main Battle Tanks.
8.India & Sri Lanka have signed an agreement for developing a 100 megawatt solar power plant in the island nations eastern port district of Trincomalee, as part of the efforts to strengthen bilateral economic partnership.
9.India has become the fifth most valued stock market, beating the UK, Canada & Saudi Arabia with a value above $3 trillion. Currently, the US is the world's biggest market valued at $47.32 trillion followed by China ($11.52 trillion), Japan ($6 trillion) and Hong Kong ($5.55 trillion).
10.China has warned the U.S. that it will pay a "heavy price" for its attempts to show support to Taiwan’s independence, as a delegation of ex-American defence officials landed in Taipei.
11.India has maintained its neutral stance on the Russia-Ukraine situation by abstaining from a resolution brought by Russia on the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
Defense News
1.India's much-delayed project for indigenous artillery seems to be finally reaching its conclusion, with the towed howitzer, Dhanush, clearing firing trials and the Advanced Tower Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) set to begin its last round of testing.
2.In collaboration with DRDO, the HAL has begun producing India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). The plan calls for the IAF & Indian Navy to be equipped with a 5.5 Generation twin-engine stealth fighter.
3.The Indian Navy has taken deliveries of unspecified number of Israeli Smash 2000 Plus system, that it had ordered to be used as a close-in anti-drone system. Smart shooter's SMASH 2000 plus fire control systems, will be installed mainly on AK-47 & AK 203 rifles.
4.Garuda 105 V2, an ultra light weight artillery gun system, has been demonstrated by Bharat Forge. The Garuda 105 can be mounted on light tactical vehicles & trucks.
5.The discussions on the sale of 30 Predator armed drones by the US to India, the first to a non-NATO ally, at an estimated cost of USD 3 billion are at an advanced stage.
6.Indian Navy's Kilo & Kalavari class submarines are set to get Next-Generation Lithium-ion batteries very soon. Lithium-ion batteries are lighter than lead-acid batteries & also generate less heat due to which underwater endurance of the submarines will be three-time more than the existing 48-72 hrs.
7.India's DRDO & France's Safran company, are close to concluding a deal, for the joint development of a 125KN engine, for the indigenous fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), under development.
8.The Tejas Mk1A will now be armed with advanced short-range air-to-air missile (ASRAAM). After Python-5, the Tejas fleet getting ASRAAM is a significant step to boost combat capabilities of the jet, since both missiles are widely reckoned to be the best short-range AAM in the world.
Sports News 1.Cristiano Ronaldo has become football’s all-time leading goalscorer, after he broke Josef Bican’s record of 805 goals.
2.16 yrs-old chess player Rameshbabu P became only the 3rd Indian & the youngest player ever, to defeat World No.1 Magnus Carlsen at the Airthings Masters.
