1. Bangladesh has achieved the highest cumulative GDP growth globally from 2010 to 2020 and is now on course to become a developed country by 2041. 2. Indian Navy's newly commissioned INS Visakhapatnam has successfully test-fired a long-range sea-to-sea variant of the BrahMos missile. The test was carried out by the DRDO on the 11th of Jan. 3. The MoD has placed a new order for another 200 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzers with L&T worth Rs 10,000 crore. 4. The Indian Army has also placed a new order for an advanced version of SWITCH 1.0 (UAVs) from its manufacturer 'ideaForge', an Indian startup based in Mumbai. 5. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella & Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai have been recently awarded with the Padma Bhushan along with Serum Institute of India MD Cyrus Poonawalla & Bharat Biotech founders Dr Krishna Ella & Suchitra Ella. A total of 17 people have been awarded the Padma Bhushan this year. Also, India's first Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously. 6. Indian giants TCS(Rank-2), Infosys(Rank-3), Wipro(Rank-7) & HCL(Rank-8) are amongst the world's most valuable IT services brand of 2022. US based 'Accenture' has been named as the world's best. 7. Many of the big Chinese investors are shifting their base to India despite a 20 months long border standoff between the two countries. In 2021. Chinese investments in the Indian startup ecosystem stood at $14.13 billion, up from $3.95 billion in the previous year. 8. For the first time in its history, India's agriculture exports are set to cross 50 billion dollars in FY22. 9. In a boost to maritime security, the indigenous Advanced light helicopter (ALH) MK III aircraft was formally inducted at INS Utkrosh in Port Blair on Jan 28, 2022. The ALH MK III aircraft is manufactured by HAL & represents a tremendous leap towards self-reliance in the field of military aircraft. 10. Air India was officially handed over to Tata group on 27th Jan, nearly 69 years after its nationalisation. Earlier Tata group had won the bid to buy the airline for Rs.18000 crore. 11. BSF will soon be procuring handheld 'Anti Drone Guns' to prevent Pakistani drones from entering Indian Territory. These handheld anti-drone guns will be useful for patrolling teams on border areas. < < Back
