1. Our finance minister has launched the 'National Monetisation Pipeline' to monetise assets worth Rs. 6 lakh crore in the next 4 yrs. The plan lists the governments plan to monetise it's infrastructure assets. The ownership of assets will still remain with the govt. This can be a game changer, which will help the government in building much more infrastructure. 2. India has overtaken US to to emerge as the 2nd most desired manufacturing hub, China still being the 1st. This is likely to attract foreign investors to invest money in India. 3. The Indian Army on August 24 received its first batch of the indigenously designed-and-manufactured multi-mode hand grenades (MMHG), in the presence of the Defence Minister in Nagpur. This is an important milestone not only in the defence sector but also in achieving the growing 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. 4. Five women officers of the Indian Army have been promoted to the rank of Colonel for the 1st time in 3 Corps. It is yet another step in the direction of women empowerment in India. 5. Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched '100 days campaign' titled as SUJALAM to create more and more Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus villages by undertaking waste water management at village level. It will help in management of the wastewater and will revive the waterbodies through creation. 6. The Union Government of India has launched the e- SHRAM portal on 26 Aug. The portal will maintain a database of workers in the country’s unorganised sector. This is a very important data for planning purposes. 7. Another edition of the Malabar naval exercise comprising the Quad countries -- India, USA, Japan, Australia -- kick started from Aug 26 in Guam, an American island territory in the Western Pacific. This will be the 21st exercise which started at a bilateral level between India and USA in 1992. 8. Also India and Philippines conducted a naval exercise in the South China Sea on August 23. This exercise was conducted five days after conducting a similar drill with Vietnam in the region. Indian and Vietnamese navies had conducted the naval exercise on 18 August. This is making India's presence felt in the south china sea. 9. The 11th Meeting of the BRICS High Representatives Responsible for National Security was held, via video conferencing. The National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval hosted the meeting since India is the chair for the 2021 BRICS summit. 10. India has won 11 medals so far in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics, making it their best tally ever. The Indian para-athletes have won 2 Golds, 6 Silvers & 3 Bronze medals so far. < < Back
