NEWS FOR 6-AUG (FRIDAY)
NATIONAL:

1. India is likely to launch its 3rd lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 in the third quarter of next year. The launch was delayed due to Covid 19.  
2.Assam-Mizoram border dispute: Both Assam and Mizoram claim land on the border between Assam's Cachar and Mizoram's Kolasib district. Both states accuse each other of encroachment. North east India will always be one, underlined Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, a day after Assam advised its people not to travel to the neighbouring state.

3. According to the report of Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 10 cr families have been covered in the country. Presently 50 cr people are eligible for free treatment of up to an amount of Five lakh rupees under the scheme

DEFENCE NEWS:    

1. Ordnance factory in Tamil Nadu launched high-tech carbine 'TriCa' :. A high-tech, low sound carbine named 'TriCa' with a range more effective than a typical sub-machine gun and small enough to be packed in the jacket of security personnel was unveiled at the Ordnance Factory in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.

INTERNATIONAL NEW:        

1. The 12th edition of Indo-Russia joint military exercise INDRA 2021 is being held at Volgograd, Russia from 1 to 13 August. The exercise will entail conducting counter-terror operations under the United Nations(UN) mandate by a joint force against international terror groups.

2. Germany on 02 Aug,21  sent a warship to the South China Sea for the first time in almost two decades, joining other Western nations in expanding its military presence in the region amid growing alarm over China's territorial ambitions.  

 SPORTS:  

1. Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya won the 2nd Silver for India at this Olympics, while the Men's Hockey team won bronze ending a 41 year drought. Also Boxer Lovlina Borgohain & shuttler PV Sindhu both secured Bronze. P V Sindhu became only the second Indian and the country's first woman to bag two Olympic medals. Earlier weightlifter Mirabai Chanu had also won the silver medal, taking India’s tally to 5 medals.
